The Cadenza is a full size sedan which managed to get Kia among the best car manufacturers on the US market when it comes to family cars. This is because the car offers everything you would ever need and on top of that it manages to look better than many other cars out there. The car has been first launched on the US market back in 2013 and since then it quickly became one of the top 10 best selling full size family sedans. However, because there are now new competitors on the market and most other manufacturers are rolling out new models, the Cadenza is actually going to be completely redesigned with the 2016 Kia Cadenza.
Kia Cadenza 2016 Engine
Engine wise, it is very likely that the upcoming 2016 Kia Cadenza will stick with the same 3.3 liter all-aluminum naturally aspirated V6 which could offer a bit more than the current model. However, we do not expect anything past 300 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque which is still a respectable amount for a car like this. The engine will likely be just as impressive as before and while it may not seem that powerful, the previous version managed to be more fuel efficient and faster than the 2 liter turbo 4 from the Optima. The transmission on the other hand is very likely going to be upgraded from the current 6 speed to a new 7 speed dual-clutch automatic. This will continue to power the front wheels but it should be faster and it should offer better feedback. The 0 to 60 MPH time will likely drop to around 6 seconds while the average fuel consumption will improve slightly from the current 25 MPG which is actually a best in class number.
2016 Cadenza Exterior
The exterior of the new car will be the biggest change over the current model and while Kia has not released anything official about it so far, a model has been caught testing at the Arctic Circle with heavy camouflage on it. However, there are some clear differences between it and the old car. Firstly, the front end will likely get a smaller hexagonal grille while the headlights will be moved up, similar to what the Sportage received. The back will also be upgraded with new tail lights, a new exhaust system with rectangular tailpipes and even a new radio antenna. While the profile seems identical, the back doors have been redesigned and there seems to be a new piece of glass on the actual car rather than on the door which could improve the life of the passengers in the rear.
Interior of 2016 Kia Cadenza
The interior of the 2016 Kia Cadenza on the other hand is expected to remain quite similar to the current car when it comes to the equipment level and the materials used on the dashboard, seats and upholstery. However, it should get a slightly different design which could improve the driving experience of the car.
2016 Kia Cadenza Price and Release date
Unlike what many rumors stated at first that the car would actually get a rear wheel drive platform, it seems that both the Cadenza as well as its sister car, the Azera, will get a new modular front wheel drive platform which should reduce the weight of the car and it should allow for Kia’s engineers to make a better car all around. The release date for the new model is likely going to be some time in the mid of 2016 while the production model will not be out until the end of the year which is a bit of a shame. 2016 Kia Cadenza price on the other hand is likely going to go up a bit to around $36,000 which is more than most of its competitors but then again, the Cadenza always offered more.
