Escape will keep three trims: the base S, the mid-level SE, and the flagship Titanium. It will also have three engine choices with front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive options.
The base engine for Escape S is a 2.5-liter inline 4-cylinder with 168-hp and 170 lb-ft of torque that combines with the standard 6-speed shiftable automatic transmission. It is front-wheel drive only. Escape SE and Titanium have a standard 1.6-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder engine with 178 hp and 184 lb-ft of torque, paired with the 6-speed shiftable automatic, and a optional 2.0-liter turbocharged I4 with 240 hp, 270 lb-ft of torque and 6-speed shiftable automatic. Both Escape SE and Escape Titanium come with either front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive. Its towing capacity is up to 3,500 pounds.
When it comes to safety, standard equipment in all 2016 Escape models includes 4-wheel anti-lock brakes traction and stability control, front side-mounted airbags, front-seat side airbags, a driver knee airbag and full-length side curtain airbags, integrated blind-spot mirror, front and rear head airbags and a post-collision safety system.
