Chrysler introduced the first Dodge Dakota back in 1986 as a 1987 year model. It was a classic mid sized pickup truck, also known as the Ram Dakota. Three generations of the Dakota have been made from its first introduction. First generation was made from 1987 until 1996, while the second generation was made from 1997 until 2004. The Dodge Dakota had its bright moments during the time it was produced, such as the nomination for the North American Truck of the Year Award in 2000, but the third generation was the last generation to be produced, as the Chrysler decided to halt the production, as it was Fiat’s final decision. However, in cooperation with Mitsubishi, Dodge decided to reintroduce the Dakota brand back to the public and it is scheduled for production in 2015 and sold as a 2016 year model- 2016 Dodge Dakota.
