First presented as the 2012 model, the Tesla Model S has suffered numerous updates, starting from minor changes, to huge power system upgrades. And even with these updates, there are two things that didn’t suffer any changes whatsoever, and those are its timeless looks and its status as a revolutionary vehicle that’s will change the world’s understanding of the electric cars. At the end of the 2014, Tesla unveiled an overhauled model that marked the introduction of the “D” which is equipped with a dual-motor AWD system.
As far as the exterior goes, the 2015 Tesla Model S will look like any other Model S. The only thing that distinguishes it from other S models, is the “70D” badge. Meaning that the new vehicle will come with a simplified Model S appearance. Some experts say that it is excessively simple for the price paid, while others appreciate its simplicity, and say that it allows the car to age more gracefully, since no one can for sure tell the age of your Model S, and that makes it almost timeless.
Tesla Model S 2015 Interior
When it comes to the interior, with the exception of the iPad-like screen and the advanced gauges, the rest of the inside feels almost too simple. Tesla did slightly update the interior, including better comfort, taller headrests, extra noise reduction, larger visor dimensions, carbon filter and an air ionizer, and an upgraded steering column control module. Furthermore, extra standard features have been added, and they include navigation and blind-spot detection. The cabin can take in up to 5 adult passengers, while the 2 optional rear-facing seats increase that number to 7 passengers.
Engine and 2015 Tesla Model S 70D Performance
For the 2015, Tesla is coming with the new entry-level Model S 70D that will replace the old 60 kW model. The Drivetrain is the big news here, as the new Tesla Model S comes with the Tesla’s dual-motor AWD system to its base-level sedan. The 70D’s system is capable of producing 329 hp, which is 51 hp less than the Model S 60, but not all is in the power. Thanks to the improved traction of the dual-motor AWD system, the Model S 70D goes from 0-60 mph in just 5.2 seconds, which is 0.7 seconds less than the S 60. The 70D has a top speed of 140 mph. The 2015 Tesla Model S 70D range is significantly improved over the previous model, it can go a total of 240 miles, while the 60 has a range of 208 miles. Furthermore, the new Model S 70D comes with free access to Tesla’s network of Superchargers, which allows you to go on cross-country drives absolutely free of charge.
