The 2015 Ford Flex is a full-size crossover SUV that debuted in 2005 as the Ford Fair-line concept vehicle on North American International Auto Show in Detroit and in 2007 New York International Auto Show as the Ford Flex production model.
It is produced in Oakville in Ontario, Canada and it is based on the same platform as Ford Edge and Lincoln MKX. Ford Flex featured new concept which was the combination of a mini-van, wagon and SUV, although it can be listed under any of these labels. It is sold only in United States, while in first few years of its production was sold also in the Middle East and in Canada, but its sales there didn’t go well, so Ford decided to discontinue Ford Flex’s production for foreign markets.
2015 Ford Flex Interior and Exterior
New 2015 Ford Flex brought and interesting new concept in exterior segment. Designers can’t really make up their minds about under which category to list Ford Flex. It bears resemblance to: crossover, SUV, station wagon and a mini-van, although it can’t really be listed under any of those categories. Front part of the 2014 model was plain and totally unimaginative, without even the Ford’s badge on the grille. It only had a ’’Flex’’ sign above the grille that looks like the USB port. This was considered back then as the big designers no-no at the time, so we hope the grille, and maybe even whole front end of the car are going to be changed in 2015.
Interior design of the 2014 Flex was little bit more up to date, so we don’t expect to many changes inside the cabin of the 2015 Ford Flex. Ford Flex is known to be one of the most comfortable vehicles for family transport on the market. Its cabin is highly comfortable and it offers huge leg and head room in first two rows, while the third row is little bit less spacey and it is made for a need only. 2015 Ford Flex will receive the best cutting edge features on the market. In earlier years it was one of the strongest segments of this vehicle, and we think 2015 model is not going to be too different. It has MyFord touch application installed, AM/FM/CD player, Bluetooth, second-row refrigerated console and a lot of other hi tech goodies.
New Ford Flex Engine
When it comes to performance, we believe that the engine in the 2015 model is not going to be changed. We can expect at new 2015 Ford Flex engine the same old 3.5-liter V-6, under the hood, which can deliver 287 horsepower and 254 pound feet of torque. It is combined with five speed automatic transmission and it can tow up to 4,600 pounds. The other engine option is the V-6 made with cutting edge EcoBoost technology which can deliver 365 horsepower and it is paired with six speed automatic transmission.
2015 Flex Price and Release Date
Price for the 2014 Ford Flex with standard V-6 without EcoBoost technology was $29,000. We expect the same or similar price for the 2015 model. Although there are no price or release date information that we could find, new 2015 model will probably come out with very limited number of updates so the price is not going to increase drastically.
