In its third generation, the new 2015 BMW X5 M continues to set the bar for all the upcoming mid-size SUVs. Engineered in Germany but assembled in South Carolina, the new X5 M is bound to be not only the fastest BMW SUV, but the most powerful as well.
Interior and Exterior
Although the car’s off-road ability may not exactly measure up to its terrific on-road potential, it appears the family wagon would specifically be tailored for comfort. First and foremost, the SUV is expected to seat up to seven passengers including the driver. For more flexibility, the second row seats can actually be adjusted or be split 40/20/40. As for the optional third row seats, there’s a separate, new entry function though somehow small, they make good occasional seats and cargo space. The cargo hold may either be opened from the driver’s seat or the key fob.
As we speak, nothing has been published on the SUV’s crash-test data, but’s it’s expected to be more of the same as its previous safety ratings. As for the new features, the 2015 BMW X5 M may be having an active driving assistant (pedestrian collision system, and a Lane Departure warning), ACC Stop and GO (full-range camera radar cruise control), plus a new Traffic Assistance. On offer though, the SUV will be featuring BMW Night vision, surrounding view system, an Active-Blind-Spot-Detection, and a head-up display, as well.
Hosted on a solid F15 platform, this should provide a superb yardstick for all the upcoming M versions. Also expected is a standard, performance tweaked 4-wheel drive system, as well as a lowered and stiffened suspension for controlling body motions. The BMW X5 may neither gain nor lose much weight this time, but the high-speed stability and road quietness is certainly deemed to improve.
New X5 Engine
The new 2015 BMW X5 M will actually be power-driven by a turbocharged 4.4liter V8, with an estimated output of 600hp, coupled with over 500 ft.lbf of torque. Also noted is the paddle-shifted, eight-speed automatic that’ll be tasked with shifting duties. If at all, this will be an improvement from the previous X5 M’s powertrain, which actually produced 555 hp and 5oo ft.lbf of torque.
And while the foregoing X5 could hit 60 mph in 4.4 seconds flat, the new X5 is expected to hit the same speed within 4.3 seconds having only used 445 horses and 480 ft.lbs of torque.
2015 BMW X5 M Release Date and Price
Even though it has not been publicly announced, it’s suspected the new 2015 BMW X5 M may be released into the market later this year as a 2015 model. As for the price, the SUV is set to sale at a starting price of about MSRP $99,650.
